Synopsis

Growing up in the UK in the 1980s a young Muslim boy's life is impacted by the lyrics of Bruce Springsteen.
Based on Sarfraz Mansoor's memoir, tackling subjects including widespread unemployment and racial tensions, and also how music can unite and transcend class, race and any kind of background.
Key to film are the songs of Bruce Springsteen, the 'hybrid musical' features multiple instances of the characters singing along to Springsteen hits on their Walkmans, while the work of Springsteen is also woven into the fabric of the film itself. “It’s about finding the cinematic inspiration of those songs.” (Gurinda Chadha)
