Please read this information before completing the form. WE WILL NOT PUBLISH INCOMPLETE SUBMISSIONS AND WE ARE UNABLE TO REQUEST OR RESEARCH MISSING INFORMATION.
These are common reasons why a submission does not get published:
no email/phone contact entered for Production Company/Sales Agent
no still uploaded (or only a 'poster')
film does not appear to be a British film
The British Council Films Directory is intended to provide a comprehensive listing of professionally-made UK feature films and short films that have, or are likely to achieve, theatric or festival distribution. We reserve the right not to include films in the Directory, and to edit, delete or cancel entries at any time without notice. Generally, we will not include corporate or commissioned information films or music videos.
Please make sure that you complete all fields marked with an * before you press the 'Submit film' button at the foot of this page.
Once an entry is published, you will be able to suggest changes by using the contact form link at the foot of each film's profile.
Criteria for submission
British Film certification is not a requirement for listing, but we will not list films where we cannot verify that the film is ‘British’. You must check one of the Criteria for submission boxes (on the right) before you start filling in the form. You can check the BFI's definition of what constitutes a British Film by going here.
Telephone numbers : +44 (0)20 7590 4512
Running Time: 33 mins 27 secs
Do not use all capital or all lowercase (eg for names)
Separate names with a comma, not '&'
We will not publish links to IMDB entries.
Production Company, Sales Agent
Contact information - a name and at least an email - must be provided in the Production Comapny and/or Sales Agent sections (this could be the producer or director). If you don't provide this information, your film will not be listed. (The 'Contact' information at the bottom of the form is for internal use only and will not appear on the website.)
If your film is complete it is essential that you submit a still (not a poster) from the film: we will not publish entries for complete films without one. Stills must be JPG or PNG files and at least 576 x 325 pixels. If you do not press 'crop and upload', your still will not upload, and we will not publish your submission. Stills are not required for films in production.
Submitted a film and it isn't in the directory?
We check submissions and post entries regularly. We won't publish entries without sufficient information, including contact details (for production company and/or sales agent), or without a still.
