Verona's Teatro Romano will host a week of Shakespeare films

Our Shakespeare Lives in Film global tour comes to Verona, Italy, for screenings at the famed Teatro Romano with lauded guests expected.

Shakespeare's own 'fair Verona' has big plans for Shakespeare Lives on Film.

British Council Italy is working with the Comune of Verona and Verona Film Festival to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare.

They will host a week of screenings at the famed Teatro Romano.

The newly appointed UK ambassador to Italy, Jill Morris, will attend on 8 Aug, when the silent Shakespeare shorts programme will be introduced by the BFI's Rhydian Davis.

Other highlights include Douglas Hickox's Theatre of Blood on 10 Aug and Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet on 14 Aug.
