5th September - 10th September 2017
The British Council is delighted to be continuing its support of Open City Docs festival, which runs from 5-10 September.
Open City Documentary Festival creates an open space in London to nurture and champion the art of creative documentary and non-fiction filmmakers. The festival takes place over six days in venues across London and the programme offers a chance to see the best in contemporary, international documentary as well as filmmaker Q&As, industry panels, workshops, networking and parties.
On Wednesday 6 September at 3pm the British Council will be hosting a panel discussion on Festival Strategy. Info here. Alice Cabanas from the British Council will be joined by Charlotte Cook (Co-Creator & Executive Producer, Field of Vision) and James Spinney – one of the filmmakers behind Notes on Blindness -- to talk about how to navigate the film festival circuit, and the importance of international festival exposure for UK filmmakers.
The British Council will also be supporting a winning filmmaker at Open City to develop a bespoke international trip to develop their career and increase their international profile.
