Hope Dickson Leach in Sydney
Hope Dickson Leach
7th June - 18th June 2017
As a member of European Film Promotion, British Council is proud to be a partner with Sydney Film Festival for the second edition of Europe! Voices of Women In Film – which brings 10 outstanding European female filmmakers to Sydney.
Our UK representative is Hope Dickson Leach, director of acclaimed debut feature The Levelling. She’s in good company with other directors including Sharhbanoo Sadat with Wolf and Sheep, Petra Volpe with The Divine Order, and Amanda Kernell with Sami Blood.
The Levelling, sold by Mongrel Media, is about Clover, a trainee veterinarian who returns to her family’s farm after a tragic event and tries to reconcile with her difficult father.
Hope says, “I am delighted to be attending the Sydney Film Festival in June as part of the European Voices of Women in Film initiative. It is not only a brilliant opportunity to learn more about the Australian film industry, and to bring our film to that part of the world, but to be part of such an exciting group of talented filmmakers is a real honour.”
Hope is also the co-founder of Raising Films, and will be discussing that initiative for parents and carers working in the film industry – in Sydney.
