UK films take centre stage at the premier film festivals this summer.

UK filmmakers will be very visible at two premier international film festivals this month as both Venice and Toronto open for business.  Italy's event, which kicks off today and runs until 10 September, scooped the world premieres of both Andrea Arnold's highly-anticipated Wuthering Heights and the all-star UK/German co-production of Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, alongside several other new titles.

Following just a week later, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) sees a huge contingent of Brits on show with 25 titles spread across the programme from the world premiere of Peter Morgan/Fernando Meirelles' 360 to Shame, Steve McQueen's followup to Hunger.

You can see a snapshot of the UK films screening at both festivals by downloading our specially produced PDFs under the BritFilms banner.

Meanwhile, British Council Film has a long relationship with TIFF: it's just one of the international festivals for whom we provide a preview service showcasing new UK titles for possible inclusion in the festival each year. We'll also be heading the the festival ourselves from 8-12 September to help run the UK Film Centre. We look forward to seeing you there!
