To Russia with love
Attack The Block
New British Film Festival
The 12th New British Film Festival in Russia launches in Moscow on 2 November with a dazzling array of outstanding features from British directors, ranging from established masters such as Michael Winterbottom and David Mackenzie to exciting newcomers like Ben Wheatley and Andrew Haigh. After Moscow the festival will tour Ekaterinburg, Saint-Petersburg and Nizhny Novgorod, finishing 4 December.
A key event in the Russian cultural calendar, the Festival gives thousands of Russians a chance to see a range of exciting new UK work for the first time. The Festival will be screening 15 films in total, with a starry line-up of guests accompanying them. Kicking off with the uproarious aliens-versus-hoodies sci-fi comedy Attack The Block and ending with the funniest road movie of recent times in The Trip, the programme spans humour, horror, romance and drama in equal measure – all human life is here!
Besides the screenings one of the highlights will be this year’s industry programme: Filming in the UK. This includes a series of talks, Q&As, workshops and networking events bringing together six UK film industry experts with emerging and established Russian film business contacts to share experience and build professional links.
