UK films on screen internationally
On The Run With Abdul - screening in Bucharest this month
September / October 2011
BC Film is constantly busy out and about making sure that UK films find their place on screens the world over. Aside of our work at the major film festivals, this month and next we’ve got a huge programme ranging from Georgia to Hong Kong, from Romania to Sri Lanka, with titles screening at specialist British Film Weeks, EU Film Festivals and at special events targeting particular sectors from documentary to animation.
Last week the Hong Kong Baptist University screened a highlights programme from BAA (British Animation Awards), while Bucharest’s National Conference of Cultural Anthropology screened a selection from Pink Saris to On The Run With Abdul.
This week the Batumi Arthouse Film Festival will give Georgian audiences their first chance to see titles from Never Let Me Go to Exit Through The Gift Shop alongside award-winning short Until The River Runs Red.
Coming up in October, the EU Film Festival in Sri Lanka will see the UK represented by Made In Dagenham, Fire in Babylon and The Illusionist, while we return to Romania the same week to attend Docudays and screen a touring programme of Grierson documentary nominees, including Enemies of the People.
