Short Hop to Bristol
Filmmakers in Libya taking part in our SDI 'Stories' programme in 2012
September 2013 | Bristol
As the UK's premier international short film event, Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival, kicks off this year, British Council is delighted to have its filmy fingers in plenty of pies.
British Council Film is travelling down to Encounters Short Film and Animation Festival this week to take part in a range of exciting screenings, panels and workshops.
This year Encounters shines a light on filmmaking from around the world and we've teamed up with Commonwealth Writers, B3 Media and WorldView to present a ‘Global Voices’ programme. The strand will showcase a range of inspiring short films from Palestine to Kenya and beyond, and includes a panel and networking event designed to explore how UK and international organisations can best help less-heard voices to reach a wider global audience. We'll be screening the best of of our 'Stories' series, a documentary programme delivered by Scottish Documentary Institute in partnership with British Council Film and our offices in Libya in Palestine.
Continuing the spirit of international collaboration, our team's Senior Programme Manager Will Massa will be hosting a workshop on European Co-production with Clermont Ferrand’s Head of International Development, Laurent Crouzeix, and Nisi Masa’s Head of Script Development, Wim Vanacker.
British Council Film's experimental and animation specialist Gary Thomas is also fully involved, reporting for jury duty and casting his experienced eye over the contenders on the DepicT! shortlist.
We've had a long history of support for short film and now offer a Travel Grant Fund in partnership with the BFI for filmmakers who have had their work selected into key international festivals. See more information about our Shorts Support Scheme here.
Looking forward to seeing you in Bristol!
