ZOOM – can you train young Yemeni filmmakers?
Zoom workshop - Yemen 2011
In partnership with colleagues in Yemen we’re looking for a UK based company who will travel to the Middle East region and deliver a practical, hands-on filmmaking workshop as part of ‘Zoom’, a national competition designed for young Yemeni filmmakers.
Alongside colleagues in Yemen, we’re excited to be helping to shape ‘Zoom’, a national competition in short filmmaking designed to give new opportunities for young Yemeni filmmakers, which kicks off in October. A significant part of the competition involves skills building – and we’re now looking for a UK based company to travel to the region and deliver a practical, hands-on filmmaking workshop in January 2014.
Originally launched in 2010, British Council Yemen’s Zoom competition is a national project kicking off in October 2013, which invites participants to submit a 3 minute film in order to win a place on a practical hands-on filmmaking workshop. Five filmmakers will be selected to undertake a practical, hands-on filmmaking workshop over an eight day period during January 2014 (location tbc).
Following the workshop the five filmmakers will then return to Yemen and each will independently make a short film using the knowledge gained during the workshop.
We are now inviting proposals to deliver the Zoom workshop from UK-based film organisations with experience of training and an international outlook.
Full details about the tender are downloadable from the right hand side of this page - and the deadline for application is Friday 18 October 2013.
