Ping Pong in Pyongyang (+ other films too)

North Korea festival screens four British films.
The 14th edition of the Pyongyang International Film Festival runs from 17 to 24 September in the capital of North Korea - officially the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.
DPRK took Gold in mixed doubles at the 2013 Table Tennis World Championships, so it's not a surprise that the festival thinks a North Korean audience will enjoy the inspirational Ping Pong; the same with Fast Girls, a tale of sporting fortitude. But we might not have predicted that PIFF would be interested in the more gritty stories of The Selfish Giant and Philomena. It is clear that these powerful and brilliantly told stories of resilience cross cultural boundaries.
