Interested in getting connected to Nigeria?
The British Council is planning an ambitious cultural programme connecting the UK and Nigeria that will run in 2015 and 2016. And we’re hoping to get more film organisations involved…keep reading for details.
The season, called UK/NG, will include more than 30 projects and over 80 events taking place in the UK and Nigeria. Most of the events will happen between September 2015 and April 2016.
Film-related projects already confirmed will include a project showcasing archive footage shot in Nigeria which has been stored in the BFI National Archive since the 1950s, and a screenwriting programme that will connect Nigerian and British writers and trainers (further details on both programmes will be announced soon.)
The British Council will be endorsing projects that share the ideals of the programme, as well as giving grants ranging from £5,000 to £10,000 to 15 projects that fit the season’s aims.
The season’s themes and ambitions include exploring young people and innovation, public space and increasing access to the arts, and collaboration between Nigeria and UK artists.
