Maisie Williams has been the toast of Berlin Film Festival this week, attending as the UK’s 2015 representative in European Film Promotion’s Shooting Stars.
Last night, Maisie walked the red carpet at the Berlinale Palast, alongside her fellow Shooting Stars from across Europe. She also got to meet awards presenter Natalie Portman - a real thrill because ballet lover Maisie is a huge fan of Black Swan.
Already much loved for playing Arya Stark in Game of Thrones, Maisie, 17, also appears in Carol Morley’s 1960s-set drama The Falling, unveiled at the 2014 BFI London Film Festival which is being sold in Berlin’s European Film Market and opens in the UK in April.
Maisie said in Berlin: “I’m so thrilled and honoured to be a part of this year’s Shooting Stars during the Berlinale! It’s wonderful to have this shared experience with these tremendously talented artists from all over Europe.”

The British Council is one of the founder members of European Film Promotion, a network of film promotion and export agencies established in 1997 to promote and market European cinema - and the talent behind it - throughout the world. Each year we nominate a Shooting Star - a top emerging acting talent on the cusp of becoming internationally known - to champion at the Berlinale.
