Moving Pictures (around the world)
The Lion and The Unicorn, 2012, Rachel Maclean
7pm 13 July 2015 | Tate Britain, London
We excited to be launching our international touring exhibition Moving Pictures: Artists’ Film from the Film London Jarman Award with a screening and panel at Tate Britain, London, next Monday 13 July.
Developed by British Council Visual Arts and Film teams in collaboration with Flamin (Film London Artists’ Moving Image Network), this innovative programme brings together works by 18 artists who have been nominated for the prestigious Film London Jarman Award over the past seven years. Moving Pictures features work by Turner Prize winners Laure Prouvost and Elizabeth Price, British Art Show 8 artists John Akomfrah, Rachel Maclean, Benedict Drew and James Richards, alongside important works by Ed Atkins, Clio Barnard and Ben Rivers amongst others.
The launch is a celebration of this collaboration with a screening of selected works from the tour. Artists Rachel Maclean and Karen Mirza will be joined by curators Jamie Wyld (videoclub) and Marta Palacios Cruz (LUX), for discussion on British artists’ moving image work in an international context, chaired by BC Film’s Gary Thomas.
Moving Pictures has already been screened in France, Azerbaijan New Zealand and across China, with this being the only planned UK public showing.
Tickets are £5 and you can book them here.
