Video: Richie Mehta talks India In A Day
British Council offers an exclusive video with director Richie Mehta to talk about his unique new documentary India In A Day.
In 2015, director Richie Mehta asked the people of India to capture their day and send their footage to him.
His aim was to create a documentary which celebrates – through the widest possible range of characters – the richness and diversity of everyday life in modern India.
The resutling film, India In A Day, is India’s largest ever crowd sourced documentary, telling the story of a single day. The film offers a remarkable insight into the lives, loves, fears and hopes of people living in India today.
Ahead of the film's release in India, watch this exclusive interview with Toronto-born, London-based director Richie Mehta, filmed earlier this year at Sheffield Doc/Fest, where India In A Day had its world premiere back in June. The film has gone on to receive a rousing response at the Toronto International Film Festival earlier this month.
India In A Day opens in selected cinemas across India on 23 September 2016. Jack Arbuthnott and Cassandra Sigsgaard produce for Scott Free Films. The film was executive produced by Ridley Scott and Anurag Kashyap.
Mehta's past features include Amal and Siddharth.
