Euro Connection 2017 - Call for Applications

Euro Connection aims to foster partnerships between European production companies, funders, broadcasters and emerging filmmakers for short film projects. The next edition will take place during the 2016 Festival - Monday 8th to Wednesday 10th February - and will feature pitching sessions, one-to-one business meetings and facilitated networking for producers and participants.


-  Submitted projects should be a short film (animation, fiction, creative documentary)

-  The film's duration proposed duration should not exceed 40 minutes

-  The project must have partial funding* granted by an external source (third party organisation)

-  The producer is open to international co-production (project suitable or intended for co-production)

-  Shooting or production shall start no earlier than May 2017

*No minimum amount is required but the funding secured must come from a third party organisation (i.e script development grant, production fund, investment from a broadcaster, prize money from a foundation or contest, etc.) In-kind contributions or investment share from the applicant production company are not considered valid.


In order to be eligible, producers or production companies must meet the following criteria:

Production companies must be officially located in one of the countries associated to the 2017 edition: Austria, Belgium (French-speaking), Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands & Flanders, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Any producer selected with a project must commit to attend personally and pitch.

Applications and all supporting documents must come from a producer.

The producer of any selected project will be invited to Euro Connection (limited to one person per production company) to pitch their project. Invitation covers:

- A 160 € travel grant

- 4 hotel nights and meals (Arrival Sunday 5 Feb. – Departure Thursday 9 Feb. 2017)

- Full accreditation to the Short Film Market in Clermont-Ferrand.

Directors of the projects will be welcome (in shared hotel room with producer). They will also be granted a free Market accreditation and travel costs will be covered by British Council.

The producers of the remaining finalist projects, outside the final selection, will also be invited to attend Euro Connection (4 hotel nights + meals + accreditation, for 1 person per project) for networking with attending industry delegates.

The deadline for receipt of applications is 5pm Thursday 20th October 2016.
