About the Festivals Directory
The Festivals Directory is an indispensable directory for film, video and programme makers, detailing how and when to submit work to over 1,300 events around the world. Listed are international film festivals, including television and video festivals, with details of deadlines, entry requirements and contact details for each festival. Relevant information is submitted directly to the British Council by the festival organisers and/or those involved with the event. Do note that the Directory is not an exhaustive record of all existing film festivals - if you think we have missed an important event, you can suggest a festival yourself.
How to use the Directory
The search feature enables you to look up film festivals by country, town, festival title, category or month of the year. For instance, you could enter 'January' or 'Annecy' or 'animation', 'short films', 'disabilities' or even '35mm'. You can perform more specific searches - including a full menu of categories.
Contact emails and web addresses are provided for each festival. Please use these details to submit your film to a festival or find out more information about it. (You cannot apply to a festival via British Council Film - the directory is for info only).
