GRIERSON 2013: the British Documentary Awards Call for Entries

The Grierson Trust are taking entries for GRIERSON 2013: The British Documentary Awards. The Grierson Awards recognise outstanding documentaries that demonstrate integrity, originality and technical excellence, and social or cultural significance. The closing date for entries is 31 May 2013.

All categories are open to documentaries made anywhere in the world so long as they have had a first UK screening during the qualifying period 1 May 2012 - 30 April 2013. The award categories are:

DOCUMENTARY PRESENTER OF THE YEAR (new category)
ITN Source BEST DOCUMENTARY ON CURRENT AFFAIRS (new category)The Open University BEST DOCUMENTARY ON A CONTEMPORARY THEME - DOMESTIC
Shell BEST DOCUMENTARY ON A CONTEMPORARY THEME – INTERNATIONAL
BEST ARTS DOCUMENTARY
BEST HISTORICAL DOCUMENTARY
BEST SCIENCE OR NATURAL HISTORY DOCUMENTARY
MOST ENTERTAINING DOCUMENTARY
Envy BEST DOCUMENTARY SERIES
DocHouse & The Bertha Foundation BEST CINEMA DOCUMENTARY
CTVC BEST NEWCOMER DOCUMENTARY (carries a cash prize of £3,000)Sky Atlantic BEST STUDENT DOCUMENTARY (carries a cash prize of £3,000)

A shortlist of eight entries for each category will be announced on 30 July and the final four nominations in each category on 17 September. The winners will be announced at the awards ceremony in London in early November.
