Synopsis

Ying Ling is a teenager training as a mortician in the fifth biggest funeral home in China. Her first time working away from home, despite her fear of ghosts and dead bodies, Ying Ling is determined to stick it out for her family’s sake. She begins by learning the spa rituals; how to massage the corpses, speaking to them softly, watched by the family.
She strikes up a friendship with her co-worker Jin Hau who’s cheeky and boyish, always smiling. In their spare time, they go together to arcades and fast food outlets, bantering playfully with each other, a welcome relief from the daily grind at the funeral home.
When Jin Hau decides to leave, Ying Ling is left alone to face the gruelling work. Despite her youth, she is surrounded by death and crying relatives. Even though she masters the art of the mortician’s spa, she finally resolves to change her life.
A touching observational documentary - poetic and humorous - about a young woman finding life in the middle of death.
