Miss Montigny

Synopsis

In Montignies-on-Sambre, a small village in the Belgian 'black country' where the coal mine industry vanished 20 years ago, 19-year-old Sandrine sells cheese in the local supermarket by day and manicures by night, dreaming that one day she will open her own beauty salon. One day Sandrine  and Anna, her mother hear on the radio an ad for a local beauty contest. Anna is convinced that Sandrine should enter and of course win. Winning, though, has huge costs for both their lives.
