Festivals
Enabling festivals to programme new, high-quality work from the UK is at the heart of British Council Film. For some feature films and most shorts, festivals are often the only means of reaching an international audience. Similarly, in many countries, festivals are an effective way of enabling large numbers of people to refresh their perceptions of the UK.

European Film Promotion
British Council Film represents the UK as part of European Film Promotion (EFP), a network of European promotion and export agencies established in 1997 to promote and market European cinema - and the talent behind it - throughout the world.

Feature Films
The British Council has a longstanding reputation for championing British feature filmmakers; over the years we have been instrumental in finding and nurturing talent as diverse and innovative as Mike Leigh, Peter Greenaway, Nick Park, David Mackenzie and Lynne Ramsay.

Recently the success of documentary-style films in the cinema has sparked greater interest in the medium from filmmakers around the globe - British Council Film works to promote UK doc filmmakers to find international audiences and new partners.
