Synopsis

The hardscrabble life, both interior and exterior, of William Stoner a Missouri farmer turned academic making his way through the first half of the 20th century.
Adapted from John Williams's initially little known 1965 novel 'Stoner', which was reissued to universal praise in 2003, and went on to become a best seller.
"I had never encountered a work so ruthless in its devotion to human truths and so tender in its execution." New York Times Magazine
