Covid-19 update
In the light of Covid-19, we wanted to let you know what you can expect from the British Council film team in the coming months. We understand that this is a difficult time for the film sector and for artists and creative professionals across the globe.
At the moment, we are working hard to deliver what we can whilst listening and responding to the relevant Government and health authority guidance in the countries we are working in.
Where it is not safe to do so, we are putting activity on hold, with a view to rescheduling whatever activity we are able to in the future. Where possible, we are also working hard to digitise programmes to connect people online.
Travel grants
Given the current situation, we've closed applications for travel grants for short filmmakers and virtual reality (VR) makers, who would normally be supported to travel to specific international events, for the time being.
If you've already been awarded a travel grant and are not able to travel, please don't worry. We'll work with individual filmmakers to make sure they are supported, and we will be in touch with you directly.
When we're able to open applications for travel grants again, we'll update you via our newsletter and social media.
Festival selector screenings
Given the current situation, and particularly that travel is currently restricted, we are not able to host festival selector screenings for the time being. We will send a direct mail re individual festival arrangements if you have previously signed up to receive emails from us; and will give general updates with any developments via our newsletter and social media.
We have always believed that culture connects us, and that is more important now than ever. We’re committed to ensuring people all over the world have access to culture and cultural connections. We hope that through a new approach to our work we are able to provide opportunities for artists and creative sectors around the world during a difficult and uncertain time.
