Bring Them Down, the debut from Christopher Andrews, selected for GREAT 8 2024

Each year we champion eight new UK voices at the Cannes Film Festival at the moment when each is putting the finishing touches to their new feature film.

Our 2024 selection was revealed in an online showcase of previously unseen footage screening exclusively to buyers and festival programmers at the Cannes Marché - and in an in person event at the UK Film Centre in the heart of the Cannes Festival Village.

Now in its seventh year, the 2024 GREAT 8 showcase is funded and produced by the BFI and the British Council, with support from the GREAT Britain and Northern Ireland campaign, BBC Film and Film4.

The films and filmmakers in the 2024 GREAT 8 selection are:

  • Brides – director Nadia Fall, writer Suhayla El-Bushra
  • Bring Them Down – director/writer Christopher Andrews
  • The Fall of Sir Douglas Weatherford – director/writer Sean Dunn
  • On Falling – director/writer Laura Carreira
  • The Salt Path – director Marianne Elliott, writer Rebecca Lenkiewicz
